SJLA Care Guide
Each SJLA piece is delicate. Enjoy with care.
Ensure that hand-painted pieces do not come into frequent contact with sweat and avoid contact with perfume, oils, lotions, chlorine, etc.
Keep all hand-painted pieces dry and store them in a cool, dry space. Do not scrape or scratch hand-painted pieces to preserve their longevity and detail. When not wearing the pieces, keep them on a soft or smooth surface. You can store them in the gift boxes they are sent in.
To polish gold filled hardware, clean with soap/warm water and a soft toothbrush or a polishing cloth.
About the Jewelry
What type of metal are the charms and clasps?
All hardware (clasps, SJLA tags, jump rings, earrings, gold chain) is gold filled. Gold filled is a great alternative to solid gold, because it’s extremely durable, very high quality, and affordable. Select charms are heavy gold-plated, as not all charm designs (especially vintage) can be found gold filled. They are all high-quality and made to last!
What is gold filled?
The gold filled jewelry we use is permanently bonded with a thick layer with 14k solid gold. It has 100x more gold alloy than gold-plated jewelry. Gold-filled is great quality, made to last, and will never chip away or change color.
Are the earrings safe for sensitive ears?
Yes! The earrings are gold filled, which means that they are high quality and safe even for reaction prone ears.
Are the charms painted on both sides?
No, only the front side is painted. This is intentional, so that a painted back size does not wear away when in contact with your skin. The back side of each painted piece reveals the gold tone nature of each charm.
Are the gemstone beads and freshwater pearls real?
All stones and pearls are 100% genuine and guaranteed high quality.
Are your materials ethically sourced?
We're proud to source from suppliers who pledge to be environmentally and ethically friendly in obtaining their materials. Our overseas supplies are distributed by fair-trade businesses to empower local communities making their crafts, or local vintage sellers in LA. Custom Inquiries & Sizing
Do you make custom pieces?
Absolutely, please contact us through our contact form or email firstname.lastname@example.org for custom inquiries. We also offer hand-painted custom initials on the back of many of our earrings at no additional charge. Please write your ideas in the notes at checkout and we will do our best to honor them.
What if I want a different size necklace or bracelet?
No problem! If there is a specific length you would like, write it in the notes at checkout. Otherwise you can email email@example.com with your measurements or any questions about sizing. We're happy to make pieces in any custom size for no additional fee.
Returns & Exchanges
Do you offer repairs in worst-case scenario situations?
Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org if your jewelry gets damaged and you would like a repair.
What is your return or exchange policy?
We generally do not offer returns or exchanges, as everything is made to order. Please email email@example.com if you would like an exchange/return and we can chat directly.
How soon do you ship after an order is placed?
Please allow 1-2 weeks after an order is placed for it to be shipped out. It will hopefully even be shipped sooner! Each piece is handmade by our owner and designer, Serena. If you must get the order sooner, contact us and we can try to figure something out!
Do you ship internationally (outside the US)?
Yes! But please note that some countries charge an import tax/VAT. We ship internationally with DHL, which allows us to pre-pay the VAT tax so that the package is not held for pickup/payment upon delivery. We charge a universal 10% tax on all international orders to accommodate for the tax. If your country doesn't charge an import tax, we will refund the tax within 24-48 hours. If you wish to pay cheaper shipping (with the risk of delayed shipping time, having to pay import taxes upon delivery, and being subject to pick up the package at your local post office), please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will set up a USPS option (typically around $15 USD shipping) for you.
